We are seeking experienced Safety Officer who have previous experience in the following areas of construction, to oversee various projects across Australia;

It is desirable that all applicants have a relevant tertiary qualification / tickets in OHS or previous proven experience. You must have competent computer literacy skills, ability to develop rapport with all site personnel and have a strong knowledge of safety regulations and legislations.

We are seeking an Accounts Payable/Payroll Officer at our head office at Kingsford, near Gawler SA.

The successful candidate will have previous high volume accounts payable and/or payroll processing experience and will take pride in providing excellent service to internal and external customers.

This role requires a person who is highly organised, with excellent keyboard skills and proven competency in Microsoft Excel.

Boilermaker / Welders - Kingsford SA

Due to increasing demand, we are seeking the services of experienced Boilermakers to join our modern structural steel workshop on a permanent basis located at Kingsford, 10 minutes from Gawler.

To be successful in this role you must be a 1st Class Tradesperson and have demonstrated experience in fabricating and welding to 4100 and 1554 Australian standards of compliance.

Boilermakers / Welders must:
  • Be trade qualified and certified in boilermaking / welding;
  • Be able to read, interpret and fabricate from workshop drawings;
  • Be qualified in the mig weld process and the ability to perform full strength butt welds;
  • Have previous experience in structural steel;
  • Adhere to OH&S practices; and
  • Be organised and productive.

General Manager - Northern Steel & Agri Operations - Steel & Agri QLD / NSW

We require an experienced General Manager to provide overall direction to our Northern Steel & Agri Operations which includes our Toowoomba QLD, Goombungee QLD and Gilgandra NSW sites.

You will be responsible for the performance of the Northern Steel & Agri Operations, including the hands-on management of employees, customer relations, business development, quality, budgets and finances and importantly the overall safety and wellbeing of all employees.

This role is critical to the growth of the business and your main focus will be to drive and oversee the business directions to achieve the strategic, growth and profit objectives. To be successful in this role you must have proven success and the ability to lead sales and business development and actively promote Ahrens to new and existing clients.

Key responsibilities are to:

  • Develop and oversee the business directions for the Northern Steel & Agri Industrial Operations to achieve the overall profitable success of these operations;
  • Develop, identify and form strong working relationships with new and existing customers;
  • Provide technical guidance and industry knowledge to the production team;
  • Oversee staff levels and the development of employees to ensure they meet operational needs and business objectives;
  • Provide strong leadership to all employees to ensure high morale, teamwork and good employee relations are maintained at all levels;
  • Maintain and develop strong working relationships with internal divisions throughout Australia; and
  • Ensure strict adherence to Workplace Health and Safety requirements and develop, review and enforce safe work practices.

To be successful you will have:

  • Similar experience within a construction and/or manufacturing field and a well-developed understanding of the steel and engineering industry;
  • Knowledge of business management principles in production methods and coordination of people, materials and resources;

Production Administrator - Steel, Kingsford SA

We require an experienced, enthusiastic and hands-on Production Administrator to work at our world-class steel fabrication facility located at Kingsford, 10 minutes from Gawler.
 
As the Production Administrator, you will report directly to the Production Manager and provide operational and administrative support to the production team in the day to day running of our steel fabrication plant.
 
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing administration support to the Production Manager and the production team;
  • Assisting with the daily functions of production, including drawing take offs and data entry;
  • Accurate data entry of all supplier invoices and managing the invoice approval process;
  • Managing and maintaining production files and drawing controls as well as administering the document control process.
Key Criteria:
  • Experience in a similar supporting role within steel or manufacturing industry;
  • High level of experience and competency in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritise work;
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers;
  • Previous experience in Pronto would be an advantage.

Project Administration Officer - D&C Perth WA

We are seeking the services of a Project Administration Officer to provide day-to-day administrative and general support to our Design & Construct team. This position will be located at our East Perth office on a permanent part-time basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative assistance to the Divisional Manager
  • Liaise and assist Project Managers with administration and data entry duties;
  • Arrange meetings, take minutes and distribute in a timely manner;
  • Maintain project workload and master file spreadsheets;
  • Control drawings and set up projects; and
  • Perform other related administrative tasks as requested.

Requirements:

  • Previous administration experience in the construction industry;
  • Ability to multi-task and work to strict deadlines;
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages, Adobe and drawing /document control software;
  • Speed and accuracy in entering spreadsheet data;
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently; and
  • Excellent time management and self-organisation skills.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff. Previous experience with BHP Billiton’s processes and document control would be highly advantageous.

  • Maximise project profitability and assume overall accountability for the delivery of the projects;
  • Manage any variances or enquiries from the client and provide accurate information;
  • Maintain effective communication with site supervisors,site personnel, sub-contractors and the client to ensure professional and cooperative relationships are maintained;
  • Ensure all occupational health, safety and environmental requirements are understood and fulfilled;
  • Competently deal with industrial relations issues as required.
This role requires an experienced and results-driven person with a sound knowledge of building principles and a proven track record of delivering multiple project simultaneously.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Structural Steel Estimator to lead the steel estimating team and deliver accurate and effective estimates for structural steel projects locally and internationally.

With our Steel Solution operations located in Toowoomba, Queensland and Kingsford, South Australia you will play a pivotal role within the Steel Solutions operation and have the opportunity to quote and tender for a diverse range of structural steel projects which include, but are not limited to, mechanical steel work and pre-engineered building for mining, commercial and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities are to:

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the estimating team and manage the overall tender process;
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of the most cost-effective and competitive tenders;
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer enquiries for the supply of structural steel solutions;
  • Prepare tender documentation for sub-contractors;
  • Continually develop innovative solutions to improve overall design effectiveness and cost saving solutions;
  • Develop and maintain an extensive network of local and national supplier contacts;
  • Maintain competitive prices with suppliers and negotiate best price outcomes; and
  • Manage and maintain an accurate estimating data base.

The successful candidate must present with excellent communication skills and an ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external customers.

This role requires an experienced and results-driven Senior Structural Steel Estimator with comprehensive skills to understand and interpret technical drawings and a minimum 5 years experience in the structural steel industry.
